A StarSavior break skill is a party-wide ability that activates after depleting an enemy target's Toughness gauge. Unlike standard savior skills that scale strictly from an individual unit's attributes, Break Skills scale from your entire party's combined stats, deploy persistent environmental Domains, and do not trigger enemy counterattacks. Equipping the proper Break Skill allows teams to push high-deficit story operations, survive hard boss mechanics, and control the combat turn order.
How Break Skills Work in StarSavior
Parties can equip exactly one Break Skill at a time. The skill charges during battle through the accumulation of Break Points earned by exhausting enemy Super Armor.
- Breaking a normal enemy's Toughness grants 1 Break Point.
- Breaking a boss enemy's Toughness grants 3 Break Points.
- Accumulating 3 Break Points makes your equipped Break Skill available to cast on the party's next turn.
- Once cast, the skill consumes all Break Points and enters an 8-turn cooldown before it can be charged again.
Damage dealt by Break Skills calculates using the sum of all four active saviors' combined ATK or HP. Because damaging Break Skills hit all targets, their listed skill factor is subject to the game's hardcoded AoE divisor of 4 per target.
Break Skill Comparison and Domain Deployments
Activating a Break Skill immediately applies its on-use effect and deploys a battle Domain that alters field conditions for both the party and the encounter.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Singularity Observation | AoE Damage | 70% Team ATK | None | +4 | Starlight Horizon | +20% ATK and +20% DEF to all allies |

Singularity Observation
The default starter Break Skill available to every Captain. It hits all targets using 70% of the entire team's combined ATK and generates +4 Nova Force upon use. Its domain, Starlight Horizon, provides an even +20% ATK and +20% DEF across the entire squad.
Star Piercer
Star Piercer deals 50% Team ATK damage and pushes all allies' Action Gauge forward by 20%. Its Domain, Strategic Command, grants baseline critical stats (+10% CRIT Rate and +10% CRIT DMG) to the whole team, which doubles to +20% CRIT Rate and +20% CRIT DMG for saviors belonging to the Striker and Ranger classes.
Cube Overload
Cube Overload replaces direct burst damage with team survivability, restoring 2% of the party's combined Max HP on cast while applying the 2-turn Omega Protocol buff (+15% ATK and +15% Effect Hit Rate). Deploying its field provides an immediate, permanent 10% SPD increase to the entire party, alongside an extra 10% SPD bonus for Defenders and Supporters.
Dimensional Assault
A specialized offensive Break Skill scaling off 50% Team ATK. In addition to granting +4 Nova Force on activation, its CRF Amplification Domain provides a permanent +15% ATK bonus and adds +1 Toughness Damage to every damaging hit your team lands.
How to Unlock and Upgrade Break Skills
All accounts begin with Singularity Observation unlocked by default. Acquiring advanced Break Skills requires clearing early campaign milestones and trading for upgrade blueprints.
- Progress through the main campaign until you complete Main Story Chapter 3-7.
- Open the Shop menu from the main lobby, navigate to the Apocalypse Shop, and select Observation Records (Observation Reports).
- Purchase the Break Skill Support Plan item. Unlocking Cube Overload requires purchasing 5 of these plans.
- Open the HQ Tactical Analysis menu, select the Break Skill category, and choose the skill you wish to unlock.
- Spend additional Break Skill Support Plans to level up the skill from Level 1 to Level 10.
| Level | Damage Bonus / Heal Bonus | Support Plans Required | Cumulative Plans |
|---|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Base Value | 50 | 50 |
| Level 2 | +1.0% DMG (+0.1% Heal) | 50 | 100 |
| Level 3 | +1.0% DMG (+0.2% Heal) | 100 | 200 |
| Level 4 | +1.0% DMG (+0.2% Heal) | 150 | 350 |
| Level 5 | +1.0% DMG (+0.2% Heal) | 300 | 650 |
| Level 6 | +1.0% DMG (+0.2% Heal) | 400 | 1,050 |
| Level 7 | +1.0% DMG (+0.2% Heal) | 500 | 1,550 |
| Level 8 | +1.0% DMG (+0.2% Heal) | 1,000 | 2,550 |
| Level 9 | +1.0% DMG (+0.2% Heal) | 1,200 | 3,750 |
| Level 10 | +2.0% DMG (+0.5% Heal) | 1,400 | 5,150 |
Dimensional Assault requires an exclusive unlock item for its base Level 1 activation rather than the standard plans. Upgrading Cube Overload to Level 10 increases its team heal scaling from 2% to 4% of total party HP.
Managing Super Armor to Trigger Breaks Faster
Accumulating Break Points depends directly on how quickly your squad breaks enemy Toughness gauges. Super Armor depletion operates under precise mathematical constraints:
- Attribute Advantage: Units attacking an element they are strong against deal 1 base Super Armor damage per hit. Attacks with neutral or disadvantaged attributes deal 0 base Super Armor damage.
- Hit Types: Only damaging hits (Normal or Critical) chip the Toughness gauge — misses, nullified hits, and non-damaging skills don't count.
- Nova Burst: Consuming 4 Nova Force activates Nova Burst (default keybind V), granting +15% damage dealt and +1 Toughness Fixed DMG per hit. This bonus damage counts as Super Armor True Damage and completely ignores the defender's Super Armor Damage Reduce stat.
- Enemy Break Penalty: When an elite enemy or boss has their Super Armor reduced to 0, they immediately enter the Broken state. The target takes +15% increased damage for 1 turn, has their counterattacks and Preemptive Guard disabled, and has their turn speed gauge reset to 0%.
Best Break Skills for PvE Progression
Choosing the right Break Skill depends on whether your team composition relies on burst damage windows or sustained turn-cycling.
- Cube Overload (Best Overall): The most universally applicable Break Skill for high-deficit operation stages and long boss encounters. The permanent 10% to 20% speed boost from its field ensures your tanks and healers act before aggressive enemies, while the 2-turn +15% Effect Hit Rate bonus from Omega Protocol helps your debuffers land control effects through enemy resistance caps.
- Star Piercer (Best for Aggressive Speedclears): Ideal for farming runs or teams running two or more Striker and Ranger DPS units. Pushing the team's Action Gauge forward by 20% right after resetting the boss's turn meter allows your damage dealers to cycle through full skill rotations before the enemy recovers.
- Singularity Observation (Early Game Baseline): Functions well for early accounts that have not yet farmed enough Observation Reports to purchase 5 Break Skill Support Plans. Its +4 Nova Force generation helps maintain uptime on individual savior Nova Bursts.
